Worship, nearness and hope

Why dua matters

Dua is not merely a request. It is worship, an expression of dependence upon Allah and a living practice for ease and hardship.

01

Allah is near

“I am near. I respond to the call of the caller when he calls upon Me.”

Qur’an 2:186

02

Dua is worship

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Supplication is worship.”

Sunan Abi Dawud 1479; Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi 2969

03

Allah commands us to ask

“Call upon Me; I will respond to you.”

Qur’an 40:60

04

Closest in prostration

A servant is nearest to his Lord while prostrating, so increase supplication there.

Sahih Muslim 482

05

The last third of night

The final part of the night is among the greatest times to ask, seek and repent.

Sahih al-Bukhari 1145; Sahih Muslim 758

06

Never lose hope

Continue asking without impatience; a delayed answer is not a reason to abandon dua.

Sahih al-Bukhari 6340; Sahih Muslim 2735

Start simply: choose one authentic dua, understand its meaning, repeat it with presence of heart, and act upon the good you ask Allah to grant.
