Full English translationConcealing and keeping good deeds secret: Abu Sulayman al-Mukattib said: I accompanied Kurz, may God have mercy on him, to Mecca. Whenever he dismounted, he would take out his clothes and throw them into the saddlebag, then he would go aside to pray. When he heard the bellowing of camels, he would come. One day he did not return at the usual time, so his companions went out to look for him, and I was among those who looked for him. He said: I found him in a hollow praying in the heat of the day, and a cloud was shading him. When he saw me, he came towards me and said: O Abu Sulayman, I have a request of you. I said: What is your request, O Abu Abdullah? He said: I would like you to keep what you saw a secret. I said: You have my promise, O Abu Abdullah. He said: Give me a firm pledge. So I swore not to tell anyone about it until he died. [Al-Hilya (its abridgment) 2/147].
