The Closing Verses of al-Baqarah

ءَامَنَ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ كُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍۢ مِّن رُّسُلِهِۦ ۚ وَقَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ۝ لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۚ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا ٱكْتَسَبَتْ ۗ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَآ إِن نَّسِينَآ أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَآ إِصْرًۭا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِۦ ۖ وَٱعْفُ عَنَّا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَآ ۚ أَنتَ مَوْلَىٰنَا فَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

Āmana r-rasūlu bi-mā unzila ilayhi min rabbihi wa l-muʾminūn. Kullun āmana bi-llāhi wa malāʾikatihi wa kutubihi wa rusulihi lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin min rusulih. Wa qālū samiʿnā wa aṭaʿnā ghufrānaka rabbanā wa ilayka l-maṣīr. Lā yukallifu llāhu nafsan illā wusʿahā lahā mā kasabat wa ʿalayhā mā ktasabat. Rabbanā lā tuʾākhidhnā in nasīnā aw akhṭaʾnā. Rabbanā wa lā taḥmil ʿalaynā iṣran ka-mā ḥamaltahu ʿalā lladhīna min qablinā. Rabbanā wa lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata lanā bih. Wa ʿfu ʿannā wa ghfir lanā wa rḥamnā anta mawlānā fa-nṣurnā ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīn.

The Messenger believes in what was revealed to him from his Lord, as do the believers… Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford… Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us.

The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. All believe in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers: “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” They say, “We hear and obey. We ask Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return.” Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity. It receives the good it has earned and bears the evil it has earned. “Our Lord, do not hold us accountable if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not place upon us a heavy burden as You placed upon those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with what we have no strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against the disbelieving people.”
