The way of the early Muslims with the Quran: On the authority of Ibn Abi al-Zinad, may God have mercy on him, on the authority of his father, who said: I used to go out in the time before dawn to the Prophet’s Mosque, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and I would not pass by a house except that there was someone reciting the Quran in it. He also said, may God have mercy on him: When we were young men, if we wanted to go out for some need, we would say: Your appointment is when the reciters are praying. [Ibn Abi al-Dunya Encyclopedia 1/310]
