The way of the early Muslims with trials and tribulations: On the authority of Muhammad ibn Abi al-Qasim, may God have mercy on him, he said: A devout worshipper admonished a tyrant, so he ordered that his hands and feet be cut off, and he was taken to his place of worship. His brothers came to console him, so he said: Do not console me, but congratulate me on what God has brought me. Then he said: My God, I have reached the station of desires, and I see wonders. My God, You show kindness with Your blessings to those who harm You, so how will You show kindness to those who are harmed for Your sake? [Al-Hilya (its abridgment) 3/295].
