Acting upon knowledge and conveying it: On the authority of Abdullah bin Masoud, may God be pleased with him, he said: Learn knowledge, and when you have learned it, act upon it. [Al-Hilya (its abridgment) 1/119].

Acting upon and conveying knowledge: On the authority of Abdullah bin Ukaym, he said: I heard Ibn Masoud, may God be pleased with him, in this mosque, begin with an oath before speaking. He said: There is no one among you but that his Lord, the Most High, will be alone with him, just as one of you is alone with the moon on the night of the full moon, and He will say: O son of Adam, what deceived you concerning Me? O son of Adam, what did you answer the Messengers? O son of Adam, what did you do with what you knew? [Al-Hilya (its abridgment) 1/120].

Acting upon knowledge and conveying it: Abu al-Darda’, may God be pleased with him, said: “Among the worst people in the sight of God on the Day of Resurrection is a scholar who does not benefit from his knowledge.” [Al-Hilya (its abridgment) 1/178].

Acting upon and conveying knowledge: Abu al-Darda’ (may God be pleased with him) said: “The thing I fear most is that I will be asked on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Did you know or were you ignorant?’ If I say, ‘I knew,’ then every verse, whether commanding or forbidding, will be held against me, and I will be held accountable for its obligation. I will be asked whether I obeyed the commanding verses and refrained from the forbidding verses. So I seek refuge in God from knowledge that does not benefit, a soul that is never satisfied, and a supplication that is not heard.” (Narrated by Imam Ahmad). [Sifat al-Safwa 1/300]

Acting upon knowledge and conveying it: Abu al-Darda’, may God be pleased with him, said: I only fear for myself that I will be told in front of all people: O ‘Uwaymir, did you know? And I will say: Yes. Then it will be said: What did you do with what you knew? [Sifat al-Safwa 1/300].
