Women of the Salaf: Ibn Abi al-Dunya, may God have mercy on him, said: Abu al-Walid, may God have mercy on him, told me: I sometimes saw Fatima bint Bazi’, may God have mercy on her, praying from the beginning of the night until its end. Abu al-Walid also told me: I sometimes saw Ghudna and ‘Aliya, may God have mercy on them both, one of them standing in the night and reciting Surah al-Baqarah, Al ‘Imran, An-Nisa’, Al-Ma’idah, Al-An’am, and Al-A’raf in one rak’ah. Muhammad ibn al-Husayn had narrated these hadiths to me on the authority of Abu al-Walid, so I met Abu al-Walid and he told me about them. [Ibn Abi al-Dunya’s Encyclopedia 1/270]
