The Three Quls Before Sleep

كَانَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ جَمَعَ كَفَّيْهِ، ثُمَّ نَفَثَ فِيهِمَا، فَقَرَأَ: قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ، وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ، وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِهِمَا مَا اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ

Kāna idhā awā ilā firāshihi jamaʿa kaffayhi, thumma nafatha fīhimā, fa-qara’a: Qul huwa llāhu aḥad, wa Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi l-falaq, wa Qul aʿūdhu bi-rabbi n-nās, thumma masaḥa bihimā mā istaṭāʿa min jasadih.

When he went to bed, he joined his palms, blew lightly into them, recited al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq and al-Nās, then wiped as much of his body as he could.

ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها described this nightly prophetic method. During his final illness, she recited and wiped him with his own blessed hand.
