Scrupulousness: A man asked Bishr bin Al-Harith, may God have mercy on him, about a man who has a wife and his mother orders him to divorce her. He said: If he has been dutiful to his mother in everything and nothing remains of being dutiful to her except divorcing his wife, then let him do it. But if he is dutiful to her by divorcing his wife, then after that he goes to his mother and beats her, then he should not do it. [Jami’ Al-‘Ulum wa Al-Hikam / 144].

Scrupulousness: On the authority of 'Amir: A son of Shurayh, may God have mercy on him, said to his father: "I have a dispute with some people. Consider this: if I am in the right, I will take them to court, and if I am not in the right, I will not take them to court." So he told his story to him, and he said: "Go and take them to court." So he went to them and took them to court, and the judge ruled against his son. When he returned to his family, he said to him: "By God, if I had not come to you, I would not have blamed you. You have disgraced me." He said: "By God, my son, you are dearer to me than the whole earth full of their like, but God is dearer to me than you. I would not tell you that the judgment is against you, so you would make peace with them and take away some of their right." [Sifat al-Safwa 3/27]

Scrupulousness: On the authority of Al-Sha’bi, he said: Two men came to Shurayh, may God have mercy on him. One of them said: I bought a house from this man and found ten thousand dirhams in it. He said: Take it. He said to him: I only bought the house. So he said to the seller: Then you take it. He said: Why? I sold him the house with everything in it. So he tried to resolve the matter between them, but they both refused. So he went to Ziyad and told him, and he said: I did not think that anyone like this remained. And he said to Shurayh: Go into the treasury and put a handful of money in each bag so that it will be for the Muslims. [Sifat al-Safwa 3/128].
