قيام الليل: عن نافع، عن عبد الله بن عمر رضى الله عنهما أنه كان يحيي الليل صلاةً، ثم يقول: يا نافع أسْحَرْنا؟ فأقول: لا فيعاود الصلاة، ثم يقول: يا نافع أسحرنا؟ فأقول: نعم فيقعد، ويستغفر، ويدعو حتى يصبح. وعنه عن ابن عمر أنه كان يحيي ما بين الظهر إلى العصر. [صفة الصفوة 1/273].
Night Prayer: On the authority of Nafi’, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar (may God be pleased with them both), that he used to spend the night in prayer, then he would say: “O Nafi’, have we reached the time before dawn?” I would say: “No.” So he would resume praying, then he would say: “O Nafi’, have we reached the time before dawn?” I would say: “Yes.” So he would sit, seek forgiveness, and supplicate until morning. And on his authority, on the authority of Ibn Umar, that he used to spend the time between noon and afternoon in prayer. [Sifat al-Safwa 1/273]
